They/Them/Theirs
JAYCE CASTELLOW, PH.D.
Clinical Psychologist
Seeking out therapy is a unique act of bravery that I deeply respect and cherish. Whatever brought you here today is valid. Healing from the past and truly engaging in the present can be incredibly difficult, and sometimes feel nearly impossible. Having a therapist to walk alongside you in that journey can help.
Background
Training, Background, and Experience
My training, specialization, and passion are devoted to the transformative work of promoting healing from trauma. Currently a licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois, I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology from the University of South Carolina where my research and community work focused on promoting social equity, often from an intersectional feminist lens. I participated in an APA-accredited internship in general psychology and a specialized post-doctoral fellowship in PTSD, Substance Use Disorder, and Pain at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago. It was there that my dedication to trauma work truly began.

The majority of my career prior to private practice was spent serving veterans in a role in which I specialized in PTSD, trauma, and co-occurring Substance Use Disorder. I also briefly served as the Trauma Program Director in a program in Chicago at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient (PHP/IOP) levels of care. With formal training in specific, evidence-based interventions as well as experience with more dynamic, person-centered approaches, I understand that effective and impactful therapy is personalized and can take place in a variety of ways. The most important piece is that you, the patient and client, feel in control and are an active agent in your healing process.
